File | Edit | Charts | Display | Windows

File

New

Creates a new untitled Chart Collection window

Open

Presents a standard file window that allows you to open an existing AIT Chart Collection or Io Edition chart file.

Close

Closes the topmost chart window or chart collection window. The close command does not affect the floating windows such as the Object Filter, Aspect Filter, or When & Where window

Save

Saves changes to the active chart collection, replacing what was previously in the file.

Save As

Creates a new chart collection file representing the current state of the existing chart collection. It doesn't affect the current charts file unless you choose to overwrite the file when specifying the new one.

Page Setup

Presents a standard Page Setup window that permits printer configuration.

Print

Prints the topmost chart or report window.

Quit

Quits AIT. If any chart collections are changed, AIT will ask you whether you'd like you save changes before quitting.

Edit

Undo

Allows you to undo the deletion of charts from a chart collection. It is enabled immediately after deleting a selection in the active chart collection window.

Cut

Copies the selection to the clipboard and deletes it from the window. Enabled when an editable text selection is present in the active window.

Copy

Copies objects to the clipboard. What is copied varies with the type of window.

In graphical windows, such as chart wheel windows, a Macintosh picture is copied to the clipboard.

In text windows, such as Astrologer's Detail windows, the selected text is copied.

In Chart Editing windows, the text selection in the active text field is copied.

Paste

Pastes the text contents of the clipboard into the active window. AIT uses this command only for text editing.

Clear

Deletes the current selection without affecting the clipboard.

Select All

Selects everything in the object that is currently being edited.

Create Natal Chart

Opens a chart data window, allowing you to specify the data for a new chart.

Create Composite Chart

Opens a Composite Chart window using the currently selected charts. You do not need to create a composite chart to display a 2-person composite. Just select the charts and open a Composite Wheel or Composite Aspectarian from the Charts menu. One would use Create Composite Chart to, for example, view  the composite chart as the reference chart in a transit Bi-Wheel.

Modify Chart

Opens the chart editing window for the currently selected chart.

Preferences

Opens the preferences window that enables you to change certain program-wide settings.

Charts

Now Wheel

Opens a new wheel window using the current system time, date and location. These settings are usually controlled by the MacOS Date & Time control panel.

Now Aspectarian

Opens a Unary aspect grid displaying current planetary aspects.

Natal Wheel

Opens a Natal Wheel for each chart in the current selection.

Natal Aspectarian

Opens a Unary Aspectarian for each chart in the current selection.

Bi-wheel

Opens a Bi-wheel window for each chart in the current selection. A bi-wheel contains 2 concentric rings of objects.

Aspectarian

Opens a Binary Aspectarian for each chart in the current selection.

Tri-wheel

Opens a Tri-wheel. A tri-wheel contains 3 concentric rings of objects, a reference chart, transits, and progressions.

Influence Graph

Opens an Influence Graph for each chart in the current selection.

Astrologer's Detail

Opens an Astrologer's Detail report for each chart in the current selection. See an AIT Astrologer's Detail of President Bill Clinton.

Arabic Parts List

Opens an Arabic Parts List for each chart in the current selection.

Composite Wheel

Opens a Composite Wheel for the current selection. If two charts are selected, this command creates a composite of the two. Otherwise, a composite is opened for each chart in the selection. What good is a composite of only one chart? Not much! Once a Composite is open, you can use Drag & Drop to control the composite.

Composite Aspectarian

Opens an aspectarian for the current selection. If two charts are selected, this command creates a composite of the two. Otherwise, a composite is opened for each chart in the selection. What good is a composite of only one chart? Not much! Once a Composite is open, you can use Drag & Drop to control the composite.

Synastry Wheel

Opens a Synastry Bi-wheel for the current selection. If two charts are selected, this command creates one bi-wheel comparing both charts. Otherwise, a synastry wheel is opened for each chart in the selection. As with composite wheels and aspectarians, you can use Drag & Drop to control which charts are used in the synastry window once it's open.

Synastry Aspectarian

Opens an Aspectarian for the current selection. If two charts are selected, this command creates one synastry window for both charts. Otherwise, a synastry grid is opened for each chart in the selection. As with composite wheels and aspectarians, you can use Drag & Drop to control which charts are used in the synastry window once it's open.

Display

Hub

The hub is the center of a wheel chart -- the hole in the doughnut, so to speak. This menu enables you to choose what is displayed there.

Empty -- Leaves the hub blank.

Aspects -- Draws colored aspect lines connecting objects in the innermost ring if AIT determines they are in aspect, and if the aspect is enabled by the Aspect Filter.

Influence -- Draws a graph of the Hard (Red) and Easy (Green) Influence Sensitivity (also called a blob chart).

Overlay

Overlay enables you to selectively display an overlay showing interconnected aspects between multi-ring charts.

House System

Enables you to choose the method of calculation used to determine at which point in the Ecliptic each house begins.

Degree Option

Enables you to choose whether degrees and minutes are displayed on wheel charts. This affects only display, AIT still uses the same precision internally. Use this command to reduce clutter in charts by hiding excessive detail.

Transits/Progressions

On Bi-wheels, Tri-wheels, or binary aspect grids, enables you to choose which objects are displayed.

Transits

Secondary - Solar Arc

Secondary - Naibod Arc

Tertiary Progression

Solar Arc Direction

Precession Correction

Controls whether Precession Correction is applied when calculating progression. Precession of the Equinox is the gradual shifting of constellations in relation to the 0 point of Aries.

Exchange Charts

Switches the primary and secondary charts in a Synastry wheel. In Synastry wheels, the ascendant of the primary chart establishes the char orientation, and cusps of the primary chart establish the houses.

Exchange Cusps

In a Bi-wheel, switches whether the primary or secondary chart is used to calculate the house cusps. This is a separate command from Exchange Charts because, in this case, the primary chart remains unchanged.

Windows

Date/Time Panel

Toggles visibility of the panel that enables you to specify the date, time, and location used in the active chart.

Object Filter

Toggles visibility of the panel that controls filtering of objects. Each ring of a wheel chart and each dimension of a grid has its own filter.

Aspect Filter

Toggles visibility of the panel that controls filtering of aspects. Determines which squares are filled in aspect grids, and which aspects are indicated by lines in a chart overlay or hub.

Returns Panel

Toggles visibility of the panel that controls quick navigation between successive lunar and solar returns.

Atlas Browser

If you own Io Atlas, opens the window that enables the searching of Atlas files.
